Global Law Firm to Occupy 71,000 Square Feet in Manhattan West Skyscraper

New York – December 12, 2022: Brookfield Properties today announced that international law firm Crowell & Moring LLP will move its New York City office to Two Manhattan West. The firm will occupy approximately 71,000-square-feet on two floors of the 58-story office tower.

This lease comes on the heels of the recently announced 283,000-square-foot lease with the D.E. Shaw Group; 450,000-square-foot lease with KPMG; and 144,000-square-foot lease with Clifford Chance, in addition to the 481,000-square-foot lease with anchor tenant Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP. The skyline defining tower, scheduled for completion in spring 2023, is now 76% leased.

“We are pleased to welcome Crowell & Moring to Two Manhattan West where they join our renowned tenant roster,” said Duncan McCuaig, Executive Vice President, Leasing, Brookfield Properties. “The strong leasing momentum we have seen at Manhattan West, and across our New York portfolio broadly, is a clear testament to the top-tier quality, locations and amenities of our buildings which offer world-class office environments for our tenants.”

Over the past five years, Crowell’s New York office has nearly doubled in size to 145 lawyers and staff. The move to Two Manhattan West is “not simply about moving to a bigger space, but moving to a better space to suit our growing needs,” according to Glen McGorty, managing partner of Crowell’s New York office. “We want an office that speaks to the caliber of our clients, the sophistication of our matters, and the high level of client service that we deliver across our entire firm.”

“We found an office where we can operate more efficiently, and which provides state-of-the art space where we can collaborate with clients and one another seamlessly in a post-pandemic era,” McGorty said. “Rather than fill our corner offices with partners, we have designed cutting-edge, multi-purpose spaces where lawyers and staff can connect and solve our clients’ most challenging legal problems. Our new office is designed to appeal to the next generation of diverse talent we continue to attract as we actively expand our New York team.”

Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the 1.9 million-square-foot Two Manhattan West skyscraper features virtually column-free floor plates, robust infrastructure, and floor to ceiling windows that flood the building with natural light. Tenants are provided a comprehensive on-site amenity program, including a recreation area, fitness center and conferencing rooms. The building offers bike storage with shower facilities as well as a private terrace overlooking Manhattan West’s central plaza, as well as unparalleled access to transit, including major transportation hubs Penn Station and Moynihan Train Hall, and iconic destinations, including Madison Square Garden and the High Line.

Two Manhattan West is the final building to be developed as part of the eight-acre, seven-million-square foot master planned Manhattan West neighborhood, which features an abundance of restaurants, bars and cafes, immersive retail, Pendry Manhattan West hotel, residences at The Eugene, and a landscaped pedestrian plaza. In spring 2023, The High Line x Moynihan Connector will open to the public and provide direct access to Manhattan West Plaza.

Two Manhattan West is targeting LEED Gold designation. The building features energy efficient design, optimization of electrical service performance, the use of sustainable materials and the maximization of natural light.

Crowell & Moring was represented by a JLL team consisting of Michael Berg, Barbara Winter and Thomas Doughty. Brookfield Properties was represented in-house by Duncan McCuaig, Hayley Shoener and PJ Massey, as well as Bruce Mosler, Robert Lowe, Josh Kuriloff, Ethan Silverstein, Matthias Li and Nicholas Dysenchuk of Cushman & Wakefield.
