Crowell & Moring Achieves Mansfield Certification Plus for 2024

Washington – October 8, 2024: Crowell & Moring has achieved Mansfield Certification Plus status for 2023-2024 for the third consecutive year, along with Mansfield Certification for the sixth consecutive year. The firm has again committed to continue participating in the Mansfield Certification process for 2024-2025.

Mansfield is a year-long structured certification process designed to ensure all qualified talent at participating law firms have a fair and equal opportunity to be considered for advancement into leadership roles. The focus is on “opening the door wider” and ensuring that opportunities for advancement are transparent and inclusive for everyone. Mansfield expands opportunities, fostering growth without imposing limitations.

As Mansfield’s certification criteria grow increasingly challenging each year, Crowell has consistently recommitted to the core principles of transparency. The firm will continue its efforts to directly report data pertaining to leadership roles, responsibilities, and advancement criteria; accountability in reporting on, and broadening, our talent pools across leadership appointment and recruitment efforts; and actively knowledge sharing with other Mansfield organizations. Achieving the Certification Plus recognition signifies that the firm has voluntarily provided data to Diversity Lab to demonstrate its progress and outcomes.

The Mansfield Rule is named after Arabella Mansfield, the first woman admitted to the practice of law in the United States, and it is inspired by the “Rooney Rule,” a mandate that requires every NFL team to interview at least one minority candidate for head coach vacancies. Beyond participating in Mansfield, the firm established the Crowell Rule, which surpasses Mansfield recruiting standards, in order to further diversify our recruiting pipeline and advance our goal of creating a meaningfully diverse and inclusive community.
