Washington, D.C. – August 6, 2007: Crowell & Moring LLP is pleased to announce the addition of partner H. Bryan Brewer, III, to the firm's expanding Corporate Group. Based in the Washington, D.C. office, Brewer’s practice focuses on public securities, private equity, mergers and acquisitions and export controls. The addition of Brewer comes on the heels of a host of Corporate Group hires during the past two years, including the recent addition of a nine lawyer financial services team in New York. Brewer joins from Nixon Peabody LLP.

"Bryan’s ability to advise on both public and private corporate mergers and acquisitions, securities and capital raising transactions is a tremendous asset to our clients, whose businesses are often international in scope. Bryan understands how to get the deal done and how to bridge the gaps required in sophisticated transactions for public and private companies, which means clients benefit from his long-term perspective and his ability to anticipate those eleventh hour headaches," said James R. Stuart, chair of Crowell & Moring's Corporate Group.

Brewer has handled numerous public and private offerings, both debt and equity, and has represented and counseled many public entities on SEC and stock exchange compliance matters, including requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, acquisition matters and proxy solicitations. An experienced corporate attorney, his practice has regularly included mergers & acquisitions, debt offerings, tender offers, financing transactions, joint ventures and corporate governance counseling. His clients have included rapidly expanding start-up, pre-IPO and public companies, including technology, life sciences, telecommunications, government contractors, media, financial and others. Brewer, who spearheaded Nixon Peabody’s regional life sciences initiative, has significant experience in the technology and life sciences arena.

In addition to traditional corporate and securities law work, Brewer also has a significant practice focus on export control law and will also be a member of Crowell & Moring’s International Trade Group. He has worked on matters related to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) and compliance with export control matters. He also counsels clients on transactional aspects of intellectual property rights and strategies and has experience in formulating, negotiating and implementing intellectual property licensing agreements, technology transfer programs, technology acquisitions, and trade secret protection programs.

"Crowell & Moring has built a first-class Corporate Group that has captured the attention of clients internationally. It is just a perfect fit. As a native of the Washington area, I’ve been friends with many of their lawyers since my school days, and I am looking forward to being part of a firm so highly regarded for a spirit of teamwork and commitment to client service," said Brewer.

Brewer received his B.A. from the College of William & Mary and his J.D. from The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law.

The firm's Corporate Group has recently been ranked by Chambers USA and The Legal 500 US-Volume I (Corporate and Finance) for its mergers & acquisitions and private equity work. Crowell & Moring LLP is a full-service law firm with more than 350 lawyers practicing in litigation, antitrust, government contracts, corporate, intellectual property and more than 40 other practice areas. More than two-thirds of the firm's lawyers regularly litigate disputes on behalf of domestic and international corporations, start-up businesses, and individuals. Crowell & Moring's extensive client work ranges from advising on one of the world's largest telecommunications mergers to representing governments and corporations on international arbitration matters. Based in Washington, D.C., the firm also has offices in California, New York, London, and Brussels.
