Our associates and counsel describe Crowell's pro bono opportunities as “endless,” “head and shoulders above the next firm” and “a passion that's woven into our culture.” In addition to the intrinsic rewards of doing this important work, many also note that pro bono was their first opportunity to lead a client call, take a deposition, and make an appellate argument—important milestones that drive career progress. Others praise the opportunity to flex different intellectual muscles and collaborate with lawyers from diverse practice groups. Across the board, they appreciate that Crowell is “a culture where people want to give back to others.” In fact, Crowell was the first Am Law 100 firm to create a fulltime pro bono partner position.
Our pro bono work covers a broad range of issues, with strong concentrations on Children’s Rights/Family Law, Immigration, and Criminal Justice. We also handle countless other types of pro bono matters, such as employment disputes, tax advice and assistance, including obtaining 501(c)(3) status, contract and consumer rights issues, benefits, rights for people without homes, civil rights litigation, staffing intake centers and hotlines, and more. Our Public Service Committee coordinates many of these pro bono opportunities, and we also encourage lawyers to bring their own passion projects to the firm.

I love doing pro bono. It's advocacy at its finest when you can do impact litigation and affect the lives or the rights of 50,000 people at one time, or just make a huge impact in a single person's life who may be seeking refuge from the horrible circumstances in their home country.
