Well known for his contract drafting and negotiating skills, Frederik Van Remoortel assists a variety of clients ranging from local startups to multinational companies in corporate transactional matters and corporate counseling. Clients turn to Frederik for complex commercial contract drafting and negotiating, specifically in the technology, telecom, and automotive sectors.

Frederik regularly assists national and international companies in acquiring or setting up, operating, and restructuring their businesses in Belgium and the European Union. This includes corporate transactional matters such as acquisitions, mergers, joint ventures, and other collaborative arrangements, as well as general corporate counseling.

Frederik’s experience includes both contentious and noncontentious work. He has extensive litigation experience before the Belgian courts in corporate, commercial, and labor and employment matters (shareholder disputes, termination of distribution and agency agreements, employee termination cases, etc.). Frederik gained valuable experience as a substitute judge at the Brussels Commercial Court (August 2010–March 2015).

Frederik advises clients on data protection law, including aspects of direct marketing and human resources data protection. He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe and was a member of the IAPP European Advisory Board (2015–2016).

Frederik is a partner in the Corporate and Commercial Group in the firm’s Brussels office. His representative clients include telecom operators, pharmaceutical companies, software developers, internet service providers, record companies, electronic consumer and professional electronic equipment manufacturers and distributors, defense/aerospace companies, manufacturers of medical equipment, clothing companies, associations of car dealers, and companies in the automotive sector, all based in various jurisdictions. Frederik also assists several United States- and Belgium-based nonprofit organizations and trade associations.
