Washington – February 8, 2019: The Washington Business Journal recognized Crowell & Moring LLP as one of Washington's most philanthropic law firms in its 2018 Corporate Philanthropy Awards.
The publication’s Corporate Philanthropy Awards honor the Washington region's most active and inspirational companies and nonprofits that have made a difference in their communities through financial and volunteer philanthropic work, charitable giving, volunteer hours, and pro bono work.
The firm ranked 11th among 25 area law firms for legal service to those who cannot afford lawyers, with 27,869 hours contributed in 2017 by the firm's Washington, D.C. office. The firm provided counseling and handled high-impact litigation for pro bono clients on issues ranging from the death penalty and discrimination in public accommodations to voting rights and asylum. This marks the seventh consecutive year that the firm has been honored by the business publication for its pro bono efforts.
As evidence of the firm’s commitment to giving back, the C&M Foundation was established in 1999 as a separate nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting organizations that focus on education as a way of breaking the cycle of poverty for low-income individuals and at-risk youth.
