National Law Journal Names George Ruttinger a Pro Bono “Champion”

June 27, 2011 – Washington, DC: Crowell & Moring LLP is pleased to announce that Washington, D.C.-based Government Contracts Group partner George D. Ruttinger was named to the fourth annual National Law Journal’s list of “Champions & Visionaries” for 2011. Specifically, Ruttinger was awarded a “Champion” title for his dedication to public service and pro bono efforts.
The 2011 “Champions & Visionaries” selections were made by the editors of The National Law Journal based upon nominations from the legal community and their ongoing reporting and research. The “Champion” category was defined as, “those who have upheld the profession's core values through public service, pro bono efforts and advocacy for civil liberties.”
National Law Journal’s profile of Ruttinger highlights his fair housing and civil rights work. He has served as general counsel of the Equal Rights Center for over 15 years and works on issues ranging from advocating for the homeless to helping fight discriminatory lending practices and racial discrimination in rental housing.
In private practice, Ruttinger represents government contracts clients in state and federal courts, arbitration proceedings, mini-trials, mediations, and boards of contract appeals. He is a versatile litigator and trial lawyer who has successfully represented clients in complex antitrust litigation, mass torts cases, and international arbitration.
