Washington, D.C. – October 13, 2022: The Leadership Council on Legal Diversity has again recognized Crowell & Moring with both its Top Performer and Compass Award designations for its strong commitment to building a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization and legal profession. Crowell has now received LCLD’s Compass Award and/or Top Performer recognitions for six consecutive years.
LCLD is one of the nation’s leading organizations promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion and consists of more than 400 leaders, including corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners, who have contributed time and resources to creating a truly diverse legal profession. The Top Performer award recognizes those organizations in the top 20% for participation in LCLD programs and activities.
The Compass Award recognizes those individuals and organizations that fulfill all of the following requirements in a single calendar year:
- Member attendance at the LCLD Annual Membership Meeting and/or member attendance at a Leadership Summit and/or submission of a Leader’s Pledge.
- Participation in the LCLD Fellows and Pathfinder Programs.
- Participation in an LCLD Pipeline program (the 1L Scholars program or the Success in Law School Mentoring Program).
Crowell is a proud, longstanding member of LCLD. Over the past decade, the firm has sponsored partners, counsel, associates, and summer associates in a variety of pipeline and talent development programs that have provided invaluable mentorship, leadership, and networking opportunities for women and diverse talent.
The organization recently honored Ellen Dwyer, chair of Crowell’s Executive Committee, who is concluding her term as chair of the LCLD board later this year. During her tenure leading the board, Dwyer helped develop and launch the Leaders at the Front initiative—a groundbreaking requirement that all LCLD members make a public pledge detailing the steps they will take to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal profession. In the end, all 400 LCLD member organizations—from law firms to large corporations, along with their respective managing partners or general counsel—stepped up to the challenge.
