Firm News | 3 min read | 06.28.18

IP partners Kristof Roox and Jan-Diederik Lindemans are recognized

Brussels – June 28, 2018: Crowell & Moring LLP is pleased to announce that its Brussels Intellectual Property Group has been featured in the Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) 1000 - The World's Leading Patent Practitioners guide for the fifth consecutive year. IAM also recognized Brussels partners Kristof Roox and Jan-Diederik Lindemans as “knights in shining armour to a selection of generic pharmaceutical companies.”

The guide describes the firm’s Brussels office as offering “prompt, creative and intelligent solutions to complex pharmaceutical issues,” highlighting the intellectual property team’s representation of Sandoz before the Belgian Supreme Court, in litigation involving the invalidity of a patent covering the extended release of quetiapine.

Roox, co-managing partner of the firm’s Brussels office, is recognized as “a true fighter, making life difficult for opponents and easier for clients.” Referring to him as “a perceptive litigator, the publication notes that “he picks up on important details that others have overlooked” and that Roox is “held in the highest regard by corporate counsel.” Roox received a “gold” band ranking as one of the five most recognized lawyers handling litigation and transactions, according to IAM.

Lindemans comes highly recommended by IAM for his skill in negotiating licensing agreements, having “recently advised domestic manufacturer Syral on the financial liabilities associated with its partnership with the University of Ghent joint research result in patentable material.” Lindemans was among 14 lawyers to receive a “silver” band ranking in the “Individuals: litigation and transactions” category.

IAM Patent 1000 conducts approximately 1,800 interviews with in-house counsel and other lawyers to gather market intelligence on leading firms and individuals and develop its recognitions. IAM’s Belgium rankings can be found here.
