Global Competition Review Once Again Recognizes Crowell & Moring’s Antitrust & Competition Group in "GCR 100"

Washington – December 15, 2021: Global Competition Review once again recognized Crowell & Moring’s Antitrust & Competition Group in its annual “GCR 100” – the leading ranking of the world’s competition policy law and economics practices. This year marks the 22nd edition of the awards and the 15th consecutive year that the Antitrust & Competition Group has been recognized.

In New York, the firm received a ranking of “Highly Recommended,” with the leadership of Olivier Antoine and Juan Arteaga noted. GCR recognized Antoine for his work in representing AT&T in connection with both the divestiture of its Warner Media business to Discovery and the sale of a significant interest in DirecTV TPG Capital.  GCR also recognized Arteaga for his work in representing CSX Transportation.

In Washington, GCR spotlighted multiple efforts, including Alexis Gilman’s work securing approval from the Federal Trade Commission and North Carolina attorney general for Novant Health’s acquisition of New Hanover Regional Medical Center without a full-phase investigation or remedy. Antitrust & Competition Group co-chair Shawn Johnson was recognized for his work representing AT&T in connection with the sale of its streaming anime business, Crunchyroll, to Sony Funimation, a merger that closed without conditions after an in-depth investigation by the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice.

Antitrust & Competition Group co-chair Jason Murray’s leadership in California was spotlighted by the publication, including his efforts helping the City of Los Angeles Harbor Department “defeat allegations it illegally restrained competition” at North America’s largest port. Partner Jordan Ludwig and counsel Katie Yablonka were also highlighted for their representation of Cardinal Health in a drug pricing case.

In Belgium, the publication highlighted the arrival of Karel Bourgeois to the firm in January 2021, as well as the firm’s advising of the IPM Group “on its acquisition of the newspapers L’Avenir and Journal des Enfants, and the magazines Moustique and Télé Pocket,” which cleared Belgian authorities unconditionally.
