Washington – January 24, 2020: Crowell & Moring’s Ruben F. Reyna was elected president of the Hispanic Bar Association of the District of Columbia (HBA-DC) for the coming year. Reyna has been an active member within the organization for many years, holding multiple leadership positions.
HBA-DC is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, voluntary legal association representing the interests of over 500 Hispanic attorneys, judges, law professors, law students, and legal professionals within the greater Washington, D.C. area. Its mission is promoting the professional development of Hispanic lawyers and law students; promoting equal justice and opportunities for all Hispanics; and promoting the appointment of Hispanics to leadership positions in Federal, state, and local governments, in the judiciary, and in other leadership positions..
“I am honored to be entrusted with the leadership of this great organization and I look forward to working with such an impressive assembly of legal professionals in the year ahead,” said Reyna, who took over the helm on January 15.
Reyna’s practice focuses on toxic tort, product liability, and commercial matters, including groundwater contamination matters. He represents a major oil company in a multidistrict litigation involving claims brought by municipalities, water districts, and state sovereigns across the country. Reyna counsels corporate clients in complex business litigation in federal and state courts. He has also defended corporate clients in various contract disputes and other commercial litigation. In addition, Reyna has an active pro bono practice, focused on providing legal services to unaccompanied immigrant and refugee children.
