Washington, D.C. – September 2, 2015: Crowell & Moring LLP is pleased to announce that Monica Parham, the firm's diversity counsel, has been named as a "2015 Star of the Bar" by the Women's Bar Association of the District of Columbia. The honor recognizes seven women leaders for their dedication to the advancement of women lawyers.

As diversity counsel at Crowell & Moring, Parham works closely with the firm's Diversity Council, and Recruiting and Lawyer Development Committees, to address and enhance the firm's recruitment, retention, and promotion of attorneys from groups traditionally underrepresented in the legal profession.

Parham has served in numerous leadership positions focused on the development and advancement of women and minorities in the legal profession. Parham served on the Board of Directors of the National Conference of Women's Bar Associations, is the past president of the Women's Bar Association of the District of Columbia, and previously served on the WBA's Board of Directors and as co-chair of the WBA's Litigation Forum. Parham also serves on the Board of Advisors of the Project for Attorney Retention and on the Diversity and Membership Committees of the ABA Section of International Law.

Parham was named to the ABA Commission on Women in the Profession's Women of Color Research Initiative Advisory Board, and she was named a fellow of the American Bar Foundation. She is currently a member of the Association of Law Firm Diversity Professionals.

The awards will be presented at a reception on September 16 at the Columbia Square Building in Washington, D.C.
