Crowell & Moring’s Keith Harrison Named a Washington Business Journal Minority Business Leader

Firm News | 2 min read | 03.29.19

Washington – March 29, 2019: The Washington Business Journal has named Keith J. Harrison to its list of 2019 “Minority Business Leaders.” The award recognizes the region’s 25 most successful business men and women for their “entrepreneurial drive, creativity, and success.”

“We are so very proud of Keith Harrison’s many achievements on behalf of our clients, both major corporations and businesses, and otherwise defenseless individuals for whom he has been a superb advocate,” said Philip T. Inglima, chair of Crowell & Moring. “Keith has been the consummate member of both the Crowell & Moring community and the communities where we work and serve. Through our Public Service program and our Diversity Council, he has tirelessly advanced our mission goals of delivering excellent client service rooted in teamwork, innovation, and inclusion, and thereby building a diverse, inclusive community that is committed to public service.”

The Washington Business Journal profile highlights Harrison’s role in overturning former death row inmate Crosley Green’s murder conviction. The article notes that Harrison has logged more than 3,000 pro bono hours as lead trial counsel on the case over the past decade and vows, “not to rest until Green is a free man.” If the ruling is upheld on appeal, Green will be granted a new trial or allowed to walk free. The publication adds that Harrison oversees the firm’s pro bono efforts, which includes a case where the firm is partnering with the NAACP to challenge Alabama’s voting system for appellate judges, alleging that it disenfranchises black voters.

Harrison is a partner in the firm’s Health Care and Litigation groups in Washington and co-chair of the Public Service Practice Group. A former New York City prosecutor, Harrison has tried numerous cases in eight states and the District of Columbia and argued 14 cases as an appellate advocate. He maintains a diverse trial and arbitration practice, representing companies in highly-regulated industries including health care, pharmaceutical, defense contracting, and aviation. For more than a decade, he has been a faculty member of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, and was one of the founders of Crowell & Moring's in-house Trial Excellence Academy, two institutions teaching lawyers the art of trial advocacy.
