Crowell & Moring and Donald Sovie Receive Patriot Award
Irvine, CA – July 26, 2005: Crowell & Moring LLP and California partner Donald E. Sovie were recently honored by the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve for their support of Associate Glenn A. Rowley. The Government Contracts Group attorney is a former FB-111 Navigator during the Cold War and a lieutenant colonel staff judge advocate in the 163 Air Refueling Wing of the California Air National Guard. Rowley's wing commander, Col. Albert Aimar, presented the award at an attorney lunch held at the Crowell & Moring Irvine office. Aimar said the Air National Guard appreciated how Sovie and the firm had made Rowley's many days of military service possible and designated Sovie and Crowell & Moring as "Patriotic Employers."
Rowley, who while on active duty provides commanders and pilots with legal counsel on the rules of engagement, is based at March Air Force Base near Riverside, California. Rowley saw overseas duty in Kuwait just prior to 9/11 and in 2004 was stationed at the Combined Air Operations Center in Florida which plays a central role in air security for the continental United States, including the National Capitol Region (NCR) airspace. Rowley leaves at the end of August 2005 for a 4 to 5 month tour of duty in northern Italy, where his unit will support operations in Bosnia and Kosovo.
