Crowell & Moring Receives John Carroll Society Pro Bono Award

Washington, D.C. – October 7, 2013: Crowell & Moring LLP is pleased to announce that the firm received the John Carroll Society "Pro Bono Award" at the brunch following Red Mass at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle in Washington, D.C., on October 6, which is traditionally held on the Sunday before the first Monday in October. Red Mass marks the opening of the Supreme Court's annual term, and was attended by Chief Justice John G. Roberts and Associate Justices Antonin G. Scalia, Clarence Thomas, Stephen G. Breyer, and Elena Kagan. The Pro Bono Award is given annually by the John Carroll Society to individuals and law firms that have made significant contributions to the Archdiocesan Legal Network.
Washington, D.C.-based Crowell & Moring Government Contracts Group partner, John E. McCarthy, Jr., accepted the award on the firm's behalf. The firm received the honor for its longstanding volunteer service in accepting pro bono cases referred by the Archdiocesan Legal Network, conducting telephone intake for the Archdiocesan Legal Network on a weekly basis, and McCarthy's leadership on the Network Advisory Council.
