Crowell & Moring Partner Appointed Chair of the D.C. Board of Elections and Ethics (BOEE)

Washington, D.C. – May 12, 2004: Crowell & Moring LLP partner Wilma Lewis was recently sworn in as chair of the D.C. Board of Elections and Ethics (BOEE). Wilma will begin her official duties on May 24 for the BOEE. In her new role, Wilma will oversee all election and campaign finance matters in the District. She will preside over her first regularly scheduled meeting June 2nd.

Prior to joining C&M, Wilma served as U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia. She was the first woman to hold the post, having been appointed for a 40-month period ending in April of 2001. In that role, she oversaw the operations of the largest federal prosecutors staff in the nation. Wilma has more than 15 years of experience in both public and government sectors and well as in corporate law. Since joining C&M in 2001, Wilma has remained committed to the welfare of the residents of the District of Columbia, and has been the recipient of numerous awards and commendations.
