Crowell & Moring Honored by Legal Aid Society of New York

The firm and partner Anne Li received 2019 Pro Bono Publico Awards

New York — November 6, 2019: Crowell & Moring was recognized at the Legal Aid Society of New York’s 2019 Pro Bono Publico Awards (Manhattan section) for its outstanding commitment to ensuring that all New Yorkers have access to justice. In addition, New York-based Intellectual Property Group partner Anne Elise Herold Li was honored with a Pro Bono Publico Award for outstanding pro bono service.

Li was recognized for her successful lawsuit, on behalf of the Coalition for the Homeless against the City of New York, to obtain data from the City regarding placing homeless families and individuals into apartments specifically designated for that purpose. In addition to submitting the data, the City paid all legal fees, which were donated to the Coalition as well as the Legal Aid Society.

Presented annually, the Pro Bono Publico Awards recognize the outstanding work of volunteer lawyers, law firms and other professionals who donate their time and talent to provide legal services to low income New Yorkers. Each year, the Legal Aid Society works with over 100 law firms across New York City. The firms recognized were nominated by Legal Aid staff in every borough.
