Crowell & Moring Continues to Grow in 2002 with the Addition of Two Lateral Partners
Jeff Snyder & Kathleen Taylor Sooy Join the Firm's Washington, D.C. Office
Washington, D.C. – January 7, 2002: Crowell & Moring starts the New Year with the addition of Jeff Snyder and Kathleen Taylor Sooy as partners in the firm's Washington, D.C. office. Jeff brings his international trade practice to Crowell from Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal, and Kathleen moves to Crowell from McGuire Woods, where she has been a litigation partner specializing in commercial, product liability and class action litigation.
"What a fabulous way to begin 2002," exclaims Crowell's Chairman John Macleod. "Jeff adds real strength and depth to our international trade practice. He will help build our trade group and more closely integrate it with our highly successful international trade subsidiary, C&M International. This comes at a great time for us as our Washington and Brussels offices gear up for the upcoming trade round."
"As for Kathleen," Macleod says, "she's a known commodity who we've worked with on common client matters over the years, and we couldn't be happier to have her on our team. She will help grow our already strong major tort class action capability. Like Jeff, she is a proven builder, a client-oriented lawyer, and a fine person."
Since 1986, JEFF SNYDER'S practice has concentrated on the US regulation of international trade. Clients seek him out for troubleshooting and problem solving in cross-border transactions. With clients in industries such as chemical, electronics, pharmaceuticals, software, insurance, investment, and general trading, Jeff advises on Customs law, antidumping law, and other import laws. Creating strategies to eliminate, minimize, or manage the burden on imports is a feature of his practice. Jeff's experience includes export controls and other outbound regulations, including the EAR, the ITAR, and the FCPA. He has worked extensively developing approaches for multinationals to manage the impact of US extraterritorial regulations, such as the sanctions administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control, and the scope of ILSA and Helms-Burton. Jeff assists companies in day-to-day compliance with these laws, and with interventions -- such as audits and investigations, and civil enforcement proceedings. Mr. Snyder is a frequent speaker on international trade issues, and regularly makes presentations in the U.S. and abroad on U.S. trade regulation topics. Mr. Snyder received his B.A. (1980) from the American University; J.D. (1983) from the American University; LL.M. (1984) Columbia University. Mr. Snyder is a 1984 member of the DC Bar.
