London – January 25, 2022: Law.com International has shortlisted Crowell & Moring’s Caroline Stevens, senior director in the firm’s London and Doha offices, in the Crisis Management category of the Women, Influence & Power in Law UK Awards 2022.

Stevens was recognized for her work managing the challenges facing the London office as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the disruption, Stevens fought hard to ensure ‘business-as-usual’ could continue, and oversaw numerous recruitment and integration initiatives. Stevens ensured the firm maintained its exponential growth trajectory in London through 2021 by ensuring the provision of seamless operational service, supporting the existing partners and teams to continue to expand their client base and also through the hire of new partners and other lawyers. These included a group from Kibbe & Orbe and a team from McGuireWoods. The London office has quadrupled its headcount in the last two years, including the hire of 20 new individuals in 2021. Stevens also took a leading role in adapting the London office’s footprint for post-pandemic operations, including reducing and redesigning the space to better facilitate opportunities for hybrid work arrangements.

In addition to assisting with meeting business goals, Stevens was at the heart of a pandemic response that delivered growth and cemented the firm’s collegiate culture. Initiatives ranged from regular, rotational check-ins with every team member to maintain dialogue and ensure career progression plans proceeded unhindered, as well as informal social and charitable events and creative team-building exercises to promote continued engagement and energy.

“The COVID-19 crisis has challenged all of us in different ways and Caroline’s success has been to recognize that and to engage individually with every member of our team,” said Robert Weekes, managing partner of the London office. “She has been simply terrific in anticipating challenges and devising solutions whilst ensuring that our people and our clients remained at the center of her planning. The fact that the office has run so well throughout the pandemic is testament to her excellent planning and execution. Caroline has been available to all throughout the crisis and the firm owes her a vote of thanks for her huge contribution.”

The winner will be announced at an awards ceremony on May 18, 2022. For more information about the Women, Influence & Power in Law UK Awards 2022, visit here.
