Preparing For (and Surviving) Your Oracle Audit

November 16, 2017 • Webinar

Starts: 1:30 PM (EST)
Ends: 2:30 PM (EST)

With Oracle itself reporting that 97% of Fortune 500 companies license its products, the name Oracle has become synonymous with high quality and reliable business enterprise software. And, as with most any software license, part and parcel of using Oracle products is making that use transparent for audit and review. However, along with its impressive market penetration and brand recognition, Oracle has steadily been developing a secondary reputation for its hardline auditing techniques.
Are you facing an Oracle audit? If you are an Oracle customer, odds are that you are either facing an audit now, or will face one in future. And, the unprepared Oracle customer might be surprised by unexpectedly expansive inquiries into system architecture, an eventual audit report that alleges unforeseen (and often disputed) licensing shortfalls, and a demand to correct in 30 days.
In this 60 minute webinar, Arthur S. Beeman and Joel T. Muchmore, the lead attorneys in Mars v. Oracle (the only publicly-filed complaint addressing Oracle’s licensing and auditing techniques), and Belinda Liu will cover the following topics regarding a licensing audit:
  • Oracle’s typical audit “script,” including the key role of a licensee’s use of virtualization software (e.g., VMware);
  • The limit of a typical Oracle licensee’s contractual obligation to respond to requests for system information;
  • Responding to Oracle’s audit report and findings;
  • Closing an audit without compromising a licensee’s interests through restrictive replacement agreements; and
  • Identifying potential remedies and protecting the record in the event of litigation.
