Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008

September 4, 2008 • Webinar

On July 15th, the House and Senate overrode President Bush's veto of the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 ("MIPPA"). In his veto message, the President warned that MIPPA "would harm beneficiaries by taking private health plan options away from them" and would "undermine the Medicare prescription drug program." The Congressional Budget Office estimates payment reductions to MA plans of $13.6 billion over the 2008 - 2013 period and $48.7 billion over the 2008 – 2018 period.

In this concise and focused presentation, C&M Panelists who work closely with Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug plans will discuss:

  • The key changes and what they mean for MA and PD plans
  • The status of CMS guidance on key implementation issues
  • What MA and PD plans should do now
