Matteo Mariano

Counsel

Overview

Matteo Mariano advises clients on all matters involving intellectual property rights, using creative solutions to obtain the best possible outcome in line with clients’ business goals. Matteo represents clients from all industries, with a focus on the life sciences and technology sectors, and of all sizes, ranging from local small and medium-sized enterprises to multinational corporations. His goal is to solve a client’s existing problem and prevent any future obstacles, whether by providing strategic advice, negotiating a transaction, or representing the client in high-stakes litigation.

Matteo focuses particularly on patent and trademark disputes. He is eager to understand the client’s business and the technical aspects of a case, and he regularly dives into new areas where law and technology interact in a new way, such as non-fungible tokens and the metaverse. Matteo enjoys advising clients on all-around IP matters with a fresh eye and crafting solutions in matters that raise unresolved legal issues.

Thanks to his LL.M. from the University of Pennsylvania and his experience at an international law firm and a pan-European IP litigation boutique prior to joining Crowell & Moring, Matteo was exposed to international legal issues and complex IP cross-border transactions and disputes. He has continued to develop his skills at Crowell in a variety of matters where different areas of IP law in the broad sense intersect and where complex procedural issues play an important role.

Clients appreciate Matteo’s responsiveness and eye for detail. Being multilingual, Matteo can communicate with clients in French, Dutch, English, Italian, and Spanish.

Matteo is a counsel in Crowell’s Brussels office and a member of the Technology and Intellectual Property Department.
