Jared Engelking is a counsel in Crowell & Moring’s Washington, D.C. office and a member of the firm’s White Collar & Regulatory Enforcement and Government Contracts groups, as well as the firm's Investigations Practice.

Jared counsels and represents a variety of corporate and individual clients in all phases of white collar criminal and related civil matters. He represents clients in litigation and investigations on a wide range of issues including matters filed under the False Claims Act (FCA) and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). Jared assists clients in conducting complex internal investigations, making mandatory and voluntary disclosures, and responding to federal grand jury, inspector general, and congressional inquiries. Jared's practice focuses on matters involving allegations of financial fraud, regulatory non-compliance, procurement fraud, and various bribery and kickback schemes.

Jared maintains an active pro bono practice. He represents individuals accused of crimes in Montgomery County, Maryland.

Jared received his J.D. magna cum laude from American University Washington College of Law, where he was a member of the American University Law Review and a Legal Rhetoric Dean's Fellow. 

Representative Matters

  • Represent an individual accused of campaign finance violations and CARES Act loan fraud.
  • Represent a multinational agriscience company in an internal investigation of potential FCPA issues in Paraguay, and related conduct in Brazil and Argentina.
  • Represent a Fortune 500 health care government contractor in an a multi-faceted matter involving small business fraud and a kickback scheme by senior executives of a subsidiary.  
  • Represent an industrial conglomerate executive in connection with a Department of Justice and Securities and Exchange Commission investigation concerning potential FCPA violations stemming from the award of refinery engineering contracts in Brazil arising from the Lava Jato investigation.  
  • Represent a payment processing company in a Department of Justice grand jury investigation and a Consumer Financial Protection Bureau inquiry related to transactions on behalf of certain on-line merchant clients of the company that allegedly defrauded consumers.
  • Successfully represented a defense contractor in a bet-the-company investigation of alleged civil FCA violations for knowingly supplying defective vehicles to the U.S. military. Achieved a complete win for the client by convincing the Department of Justice to drop the fraud investigation entirely.. 
  • Successfully represented an engineering services company that produces and services a variety of flight simulators and related devices for the U.S. military in its defense of a criminal action in which it was charged with various fraud-related counts regarding alleged bribes paid to a government official.  Represent war zone defense contractor in internal investigation and related congressional investigation of various inflammatory public allegations including human trafficking and labor mischarging.
  • Represented a major financial institution in connection with an alleged money laundering scandal.
