Overview

William V. Reiss is a partner in the New York office of Crowell & Moring in the Antitrust and Competition Group.

William leverages his class action experience to spearhead direct action affirmative recovery litigation for corporate clients who have been harmed by competitors, suppliers, and strategic partners. He assists clients facing antitrust violations in successfully navigating complex legal challenges to achieve favorable outcomes. William also regularly offers antitrust counseling to corporate clients. William has recovered in excess of $1.2 billion on behalf of his clients in complex antitrust class actions. He served as co-lead counsel on behalf of direct purchasers of Keurig K-Cups in an antitrust class action against Keurig. He also served as court-appointed co-lead counsel in In re Hard Disk Drive Suspension Assemblies Antitrust Litigation (N.D. Cal.) for a certified class of end-user plaintiffs who purchased products containing hard disk drive suspension assemblies that were the subject of an alleged price-fixing conspiracy among the leading manufacturers of suspension assemblies for more than a decade. Reiss also has extensive experience counseling clients on a broad range of antitrust matters across industries.

William is described by his peers in Chambers USA as an “antitrust heavyweight for plaintiffs work,” as well as a “highly dedicated and innovative litigator, who represents clients vigorously.” He is a member of the American Antitrust Institute’s Advisory Board, as well as the recipient of the "Outstanding Antitrust Litigation Achievement in Private Practice" Award from the AAI (2019) and was named an “Antitrust and M&A Trailblazer” by The National Law Journal (2018).

He is the chair of the NY State Bar Association’s Antitrust Section and an advisory board member at the American Antitrust Institute. William is also on the Law360 Competition Editorial Advisory Board.

He serves on the board of directors for the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights. He is committed to pro bono work and has successfully advocated on behalf of the families of the victims of the 9/11 attacks in several pro bono World Trade Center Victims’ Compensation Fund hearings before the Special Master, Kenneth R. Feinberg. He frequently provides pro bono representation on behalf of immigrant children who have suffered abuse and/or neglect in their home countries.
