Tanaz Moghadam

Public Service Counsel

Overview

As the firm’s public service counsel, Tanaz Moghadam helps coordinate the firm’s pro bono program, including generating new matters, launching innovative pro bono programs, and supervising cases. Tanaz leverages deep experience in immigration impact litigation and detained removal defense.

Prior to joining Crowell & Moring, Tanaz spent nearly a decade managing complex pro bono programs, including over five years as pro bono counsel at an AmLaw 20 firm. Before that, she served as the deputy director of programs of the Immigration Justice Campaign at the American Immigration Counsel, where she led initiatives to expand access to justice within the immigration system.

Tanaz is a litigator with nearly two decades of experience in areas as diverse as criminal defense and union-side labor and employment law. She began her career as a Skadden Fellow at the American Civil Liberties Union’s Immigrants’ Rights Project and completed a one-year clerkship at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Before and during law school, Tanaz worked in international human rights and conducted field work in Tanzania, Rwanda, Côte d'Ivoire, and Morocco. She speaks fluent Farsi and is also proficient in French.
