Lauren Schwartzreich

Lauren guides clients through eDiscovery challenges of every kind, including designing defensible legal hold processes, negotiating protective orders and ESI protocols, overseeing forensic experts, developing data-culling strategies that withstand judicial scrutiny while controlling costs, and authenticating ESI at trial. She has extensive experience leveraging structured data analysis to drive case strategy, leading multifaceted forensic investigations involving data exfiltration and trade secret misappropriation, and litigating both offensive and defensive spoliation motions. She also counsels clients on the discovery implications of emerging technologies, including ephemeral messaging, cloud-based systems, and artificial intelligence tools. 

Clients and peers alike seek out Lauren’s insights on eDiscovery. She serves on the advisory board of the Georgetown Law Advanced eDiscovery Institute® and has been recognized by Chambers USA and Chambers Global for her experience in eDiscovery and information governance. She also serves on The Sedona Conference® Working Group Series Leadership Council and is a former co-chair of the ABA’s National Institute on eDiscovery. 

As a former plaintiff-side class action litigator, Lauren draws on her experience representing both sides of class litigation to anticipate discovery strategies and build well-tested, defensible discovery plans for her clients. 

Lauren is dedicated to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, both within the legal community and beyond. She is a former fellow of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity and a former member and secretary of the New York City Bar Association’s LGBTQ Rights Committee. 

Prior to joining Crowell & Moring, Lauren served as a shareholder and eDiscovery counsel at a multinational law firm, where she led eDiscovery strategy in complex trade secret and class action cases.
