Overview
Dr. Jun Cheng is a counsel in Crowell & Moring's Intellectual Property Group. Jun helps clients build strong intellectual property portfolios that protect commercial products and support future development. With a broad educational background in physics, electrical engineering, and biomedical engineering, Jun focuses his practice on a range of multi-discipline technologies, including telecommunication, machine learning and artificial intelligence, medical devices, consumer products, computer software, nanotechnology, and quantum information processing innovations.
Prior to joining Crowell & Moring, Jun was a faculty member at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he taught undergraduate and graduate courses and directed the Laboratory for Live-cell Imaging and Ultrafast Laser Microsurgery. During his tenure at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Jun received the Junior Investigator Award. Prior to that, Jun was a research fellow at the University of Michigan. As a Ph.D. student, he investigated the semiconductor nanostructures and their applications on quantum computing and quantum communication.

Squires for the positions of Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
