Julia Walter

Prior to joining the firm, Julia served as assistant director of contracts and administration at Break Through Cancer, where she negotiated a broad range of research and operational agreements and counseled stakeholders on the legal and practical challenges arising from deeply collaborative research projects. That experience gives her a nuanced understanding of the competing priorities and sensitivities that arise when research institutions, industry partners, and funders work together, an understanding she now applies directly on behalf of clients structuring and negotiating complex collaborations.

Before that, Julia served as senior contracts manager at the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology Foundation, where she supported a national cancer clinical trials network through the negotiation of clinical trial, research, and data-related agreements. Julia also brings substantial in-house experience from her tenure as senior contracts associate at Boston University, as well as more than eight years at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, where she held progressively senior roles in the Office of Strategic Alliances and Partnering. Having sat across the table from outside counsel and industry counterparties throughout her career, Julia understands what institutional partners and sponsors need from their agreements and how to help clients achieve durable, workable outcomes efficiently.
