Overview

A staunch advocate for his clients, Jason Mayer counsels managed care organizations in arbitrations and litigation in state and federal courts across the country.

Jason is nationally recognized for his work on complex litigation and regulatory disputes within the health care industry, representing managed care organizations and commercial clients in high-stakes matters. He is a leading advocate for health care payors in disputes involving the No Surprises Act (NSA), including disputes involving enforcement, vacatur, and abuse of the independent dispute resolution (IDR) process. Jason’s legal strategies have helped shape national precedent, with his arguments frequently cited by health care payors defending against IDR enforcement cases.

Jason also has extensive experience with 340B drug pricing disputes on behalf of Medicare Advantage organizations (MAOs). He has played a central role in shaping legal strategies for dozens of 340B drug payment arbitrations and serves as lead counsel for MAOs defending against such arbitrations and lawsuits. When MAOs and other managed care companies face new disputes due to a rapidly changing legal and regulatory landscape, Jason is at the forefront of analyzing developing arguments for his clients.

In addition to his managed care practice, Jason represents and counsels clients in the cannabis industry on a range of disputes involving contracts, corporate transactions and securities, shareholders, class actions, and state laws and regulations. Through this experience, he has also represented and counseled managed care clients in class action and coverage disputes involving medical cannabis and other emerging therapies.

Beyond the courtroom, Jason is a frequent speaker and author on health law topics, including the NSA, 340B, and emerging therapies. He also volunteers his time and legal expertise to Greyhounds Only, Inc., a nonprofit greyhound adoption group, where he provides legal and foster support to dogs in need.
