Overview

Henry W. Leung is a litigator with a prior career as a successful writer. His courtroom advocacy is informed by his experience framing narratives—whether from a set of facts or from the story of developing caselaw—with exacting precision. Henry straddles the firm’s Litigation and Trial and Health Care groups and has successfully represented clients in a range of litigation proceedings, including motion practice, appeals, and alternative dispute resolution. He actively maintains a pro bono practice.

Prior to joining Crowell & Moring, Henry clerked in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and externed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. While in law school, he was honored as a Salzburg Cutler Fellow in International Law and served as an associate editor of the California Law Review. In his prior career, Henry was a Fulbright Fellow, a writing instructor, and the author of two award-winning collections of poetry.

  • Achieved total appellate victories for bankruptcy trustee in adversary proceeding in federal court.
  • Represented individual sued in retaliatory cross-complaint in state court, resulting in a multi-million-dollar settlement for that individual.
  • Secured federal clemency for inmate who had been incarcerated for several decades despite having received a state pardon for the same charges.
  • Co-authored U.S. Supreme Court amicus brief on behalf of association of Historically Black Colleges and Universities in Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard.
  • Presented legal risk analysis to board of organization facing existential crisis due to court decision in American Alliance for Equal Rights v. Fearless Fund Management, LLC.
