Danielle Hartley

Associate

Overview

Danielle Hartley is an associate in Crowell & Moring's Denver office, where she practices in the Litigation and Health Care groups. She focuses on general and health care litigation, representing companies, payers, and health systems in government-facing investigations and disputes, including matters before the Department of Justice, Congress, and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, as well as in proceedings before state and federal courts. Danielle is known for approaching every dispute with an eye toward its regulatory, policy, and reputational dimensions, helping clients manage not only the immediate legal challenge, but the broader implications.

Prior to joining Crowell & Moring, Danielle served as a term law clerk for the Honorable John L. Kane of the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. Over eighteen months with Judge Kane, she engaged with virtually every facet of federal litigation, from motion practice and evidentiary issues to trial preparation and judicial decision-making. That inside perspective on how federal judges analyze cases and craft decisions informs how she approaches strategy and advocacy for her clients today. She subsequently gained additional experience as a litigation and investigations associate at a major international law firm before joining Crowell.

Danielle earned her J.D. from the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law, graduating with election to the Order of the Coif. During law school, she served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Timothy M. Tymkovich of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and spent a summer as a Trainee Associate at Studio Legale Scognamiglio in Naples, Italy. She capped her law school career as the Senior Articles Editor of the Denver Law Review.

Before law school, Danielle worked as a senior litigation paralegal at two international law firms, giving her an understanding of how complex cases are built and managed from the ground up.
