Overview

Alaa Mobarez is an associate in Crowell’s Doha office and a member of the firm's Corporate group. He brings ten years of post-qualified experience when advising clients on commercial transactions, corporate structuring, regulatory compliance, mergers and acquisitions, and commercial litigation.

Prior to joining Crowell, Alaa worked for one of Egypt’s top law firms, where he handled complex litigation matters in civil and commercial law and advised clients on their daily operations, as well as on their groundbreaking projects and transactions.

Representative Matters

  • Acted as lead lawyer in advising and representing a major telecommunication provider, obtaining a favorable judgment in a complex and first-of-its-kind multimillion-dollar claim lawsuit before Egyptian courts.
  • Represented an international telecommunications company in negotiating and obtaining its multimillion U.S. dollar 4G operating virtually fixed license in Egypt.
  • Acted as lead lawyer representing and negotiating on behalf of a heavy industry foreign company in a multimillion Euro complex settlement.
  • Represented an international oil rig machinery company in a multimillion Euro commercial agency dispute.
  • Advised major corporations, global, private, and sovereign funds on their adherence to the domestic and regional antitrust laws before regional competition bodies.
  • Advised multiple real-estate companies on their daily operations and new projects.
  • Advised and negotiated on behalf of clients in multiple multimillion U.S. dollar development agreements.
  • Advised and negotiated on behalf of a foreign government entity on exiting its joint venture company and its correlated agreements in an Egyptian special economic zone.
  • Advised a major music streaming services provider on its business model in Egypt and its regulatory compliance with respect to, inter alia, VAT, Consumer Protection, Antitrust, and E-Commerce.
