Washington, D.C. – March 4, 2026: Crowell & Moring has expanded its Privacy and Cybersecurity Group with the addition of Rajeev Raghavan, a former Special Counsel to the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and federal prosecutor. With more than 15 years of direct experience handling cybercrime, technology, regulatory, and enforcement challenges, and a foundational background as a computer programmer, Raghavan further strengthens the firm’s ability to help clients respond to evolving cybersecurity threats and navigate a rapidly changing legal and regulatory environment.

Washington – June 26, 2025: Crowell & Moring has been recommended in eight practice areas in the 18th edition of the Legal 500 United States. In addition, partner Daniel Forman, co-chair of the firm’s Government Contracts Group, has been named to the Legal 500’s “Hall of Fame” for Government Contracts.

On March 6, 2026, the White House released its National Cyber Strategy (Strategy) and issued an accompanying Executive Order, “Combating Cybercrime, Fraud, and Predatory Schemes Against American Citizens” (EO). These documents outline the administration’s priorities for combating cybercrime and call for coordination across the federal government and the private sector to invest in new technologies, continue innovation, and prioritize the United States’ cyber capabilities. Key sectors of concern include energy, financial services, telecommunications, data centers, water, and health care. The Strategy and EO encourage increased public-private coordination, signal greater latitude for private sector offensive cyber operations, prioritize securing critical infrastructure, elevate cybercrime as a national security priority, outline a path for victim compensation, and promote streamlining cyber regulations.

On November 14, 2025, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced a sweeping series of enforcement actions, including four guilty pleas and more than $15 million in civil forfeitures against the  Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK or North Korea) for remote information technology (IT) worker schemes. These actions underscore the federal government’s escalating focus on the exposure of U.S. companies to North Korean IT worker infiltration, following a series of U.S. Government action against the DPRK.

On Thursday, July 18, 2024, Judge Paul Engelmayer, U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of New York, dismissed the bulk of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC’s) landmark civil securities law claims against SolarWinds and its Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) Timothy Brown.  The Court dismissed all allegations based on SolarWinds’ public disclosures made after SolarWinds became a victim of the well-publicized SUNBURST cybersecurity attack, and also dismissed the SEC’s claims relating to SolarWinds’ internal accounting controls and disclosure controls and procedures.  However, the Court declined to dismiss claims of securities fraud against SolarWinds and its CISO based on SolarWinds’ pre-SUNBURST disclosures, finding that the SEC had properly pleaded that the company’s publicly-posted “Security Statement” was materially false and misleading.
