Third Thursday Webinar: New Obligations for New York Employers
Webinar | 09.26.19, 8:00 AM EDT - 9:00 AM EDT
Please join us for the next edition of Third Thursday – Crowell & Moring’s Labor and Employment Update, a webinar series dedicated to helping our clients stay on top of developing law and emerging compliance issues.
In 2019, several important and complex new laws were passed that create substantial new obligations for employers who operate in or have any employees working within New York State. One such new law, related to workplace harassment, becomes effective in October 2019 and will lower the standards that employees must meet to prove harassment claims, eliminate certain employer defenses to harassment claims, prohibit provisions in some arbitration and nondisclosure agreements, and otherwise create new protections for employees who complain of harassment. Separately, starting in November 2019, employers must make reasonable accommodations for employees who have been victims of domestic violence. Other new laws will impact issues such as employer drug testing, dress codes or personal grooming requirements, and leave policies.
During this webinar, we will provide an overview of these new laws and guidance on how employers may comply with the changes. We will also discuss key compliance and litigation issue areas and errors to avoid for any employers with employees in New York.
This webinar is scheduled for September 26, 2019, at 12:00 pm Eastern. We hope that you can join us and participate in a lively discussion of these issues.
