The Electric Vehicle and the Environment

Webinar | 05.20.21, 9:00 AM EDT - 10:00 AM EDT

Electric vehicles are taking off, and the new Administration intends to help them along through incentive programs and federal procurement of a fleet of EVs. EVs provide tremendous opportunities, but they also pose their own challenges and legal risks. Crowell & Moring is happy to announce a webinar series dedicated to issues related to electric vehicles, both for manufacturers and purchasers.  We will cover everything from manufacturing EVs, to developing the charging station infrastructure, to considerations of the source of the electricity for those charging stations and how that impacts EV “fuel economy,” to reclamation and recycling of EV batteries.

Our first webinar will focus on the environmental issues surrounding EVs.  Our team of experienced practitioners will explore the following areas:

  • How an EV works, including operating and manufacturing;
  • The environmental rules and regulations that are relevant in the EV space;
  • The challenges we face in making the transition to EVs, such as the need for an expanded charging network;
  • The environmental implications of transitioning both public and private vehicles to EVs;
  • The opportunities and risks associated with production and use of EVs.

On-Going Government Audits of Small Business Programs: Why the Federal Government’s Focus on ‘Waste, Fraud, and Abuse’ Impacts Both Large and Small Contractors

As it relates to federal procurement, we have seen audits and investigations rolled out not only of active participants in the Small Business Administration’s 8(a) Business Development Program but also reviews of various types of small business contracts (such as 8(a) sole source and set-aside awards, preference-based awards, and small business set-aside awards over particular values). Join Crowell & Moring as we discuss what aspects of contract performance and teaming arrangements are being scrutinized (e.g., size/status eligibility, limitations on subcontracting compliance, reasonableness of market rates, etc.) and how these considerations can impact both small government contractors holding the prime contracts under review and their subcontractors. ...
