Health Care Industry Webinar Series Fraud and Abuse: Compliance Risks in 2015
Webinar | 03.12.15, 10:00 AM EDT - 11:00 AM EDT
Please join Crowell & Moring for the first in a series of webinars focused on key issues of importance to the health care industry. With over $450 million allocated to program integrity efforts in the President’s 2015 budget and a return on enforcement investment at a ratio of 8 to 1, health care providers should not look for the current pace of enforcement to slacken any time soon. On the contrary—enforcement agencies are pursuing providers more aggressively than ever, and with changes on the horizon, providers need to be attuned to government enforcement priorities for 2015. The U.S. Department of Justice recovered nearly $6 billion from False Claims Act cases in fiscal year 2014. In this webinar, we’ll review what providers can expect in the coming year—and what they can do to prepare.
Topics will include:
- DOJ and OIG Enforcement Priorities
- Impacts of One Year Delay in 60-day Overpayment Rule
- Focus on Quality of Care: What are the Fraud Risks?

The federal government has identified purported ‘waste, fraud, and abuse’ in small business programs as a major focus of its current enforcement efforts. As it relates to federal procurement, we have seen audits and investigations rolled out not only of active participants in the Small Business Administration’s 8(a) Business Development Program but also reviews of various types of small business contracts (such as 8(a) sole source and set-aside awards, preference-based awards, and small business set-aside awards over particular values). Join Crowell & Moring as we discuss what aspects of contract performance and teaming arrangements are being scrutinized (e.g., size/status eligibility, limitations on subcontracting compliance, reasonableness of market rates, etc.) and how these considerations can impact both small government contractors holding the prime contracts under review and their subcontractors.
