Washington – October 27, 2020: Law360 named Crowell & Moring partners Daniel R. Forman and Gabriel M. Ramsey as 2020 MVPs in Government Contracts and Privacy & Cybersecurity, respectively.
Forman was recognized for his role in a number of high-profile, high-dollar bid protests. He led the team that helped lead Amazon Web Services' successful defense against claims of conflicts concerning the $10 billion JEDI deal, which was the subject of significant media and congressional scrutiny. He secured corrective action for Perspecta Enterprise Solutions LLC in the $7.6 billion DEOS cloud procurement, and also was part of the team that led ISS Action's defense of a $249 million contract to provide security and transportation services for U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
When asked about his beginnings in government contracts law, Forman told Law360 that he was drawn to the work on cutting-edge issues for interesting clients, as well as the social justice components in the field.
"I never thought of government contracting as a tool for progressive policy, but it really can be, when properly utilized," Forman said. "If you think about it, many of the largest companies do business with the government and so, you have an ability through EOs and regulations to really influence the behavior of corporations in a positive social lab."
This is Forman’s second MVP recognition, having also made the list in 2015.
Ramsey is recognized for working with some of the world’s leading tech companies and high-profile victims of cybercrime in complex matters including, combatting criminal and state-associated hackers, decimating the criminal infrastructure of botnets, and handling the fall-out for corporate victims of a phishing attack.
In Ramsey’s profile, Law360 highlights his work “guiding Microsoft through a massive global effort to disrupt a network of millions of computers infected with malicious software” and helping the company “seize control of fraudulent websites used by suspected nation-state hackers to steal personal data.”
