Kickstart your legal career - Diversity edition

Crowell & Moring Brussels is pleased to invite you on October 15th to the Diversity & Inclusion / First Generation Students Workshop, designed to get you started in the professional world.

This workshop is specifically aimed at students (BAC3, MA1 and MA2) from diverse backgrounds and first-generation students (students whose parents do not have a college degree). We want to show you that your cultural and linguistic richness and family background need not be a barrier to your career - quite the contrary!

The program:

18u: Reception

18:15: Start workshop

1. Introduction and testimony of a diversity alumni

First, we will give the floor to one of our Crowell diversity alumni (a former summer intern), who will share their experience on finding a student internship and the importance of gaining initial work experience (especially for students from diverse backgrounds).

2. Recruitment process at law firms and resume workshop “How do I make the perfect resume?”

Then our attorneys will explain how the selection process works (e.g., how important it is to go to job fairs) and we will review together how to put together a good resume! Be sure to bring a printout of your current resume so we can work on it together!

3. Testimony of a first generation professional

After this, we will briefly give the floor to one of our attorneys who also used to be a first-generation student to talk about their path to becoming an attorney.

4. Q&A session

We will conclude the workshop with a Q&A session to answer any questions. For example, we will address questions such as the display of religious signs on a resume photo or how to highlight your mother tongue.

20:30: Reception

During the reception afterwards you can ask us all the questions that you might not dare to ask at other events or workshops or that people close to you cannot immediately advise you about!

22h00: End

The workshop will be given in English. You are free to ask any question and, in the language, of your choice (Dutch, French or English). There won’t be any language barrier!
