Clean Energy Leadership Institute - A Panel Discussion on Offshore Wind in the U.S.

Event | 12.01.15, 6:30 PM UTC - 8:00 PM UTC

Address

Crowell & Moring
1001 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW

Please join the CELI Alumni Education Committee for a panel discussion on offshore wind in the U.S.

The U.S. Department of Energy has estimated that offshore wind could provide at least 7% of our domestic energy demand by 2050. Europe already has a full-fledged offshore wind industry with over 8 GW of installed capacity and much more in the pipeline, but development in the United States has been delayed by high costs, an underdeveloped supply chain, and local and political opposition. Join the Clean Energy Leadership Institute, in conjunction with panelists from the U.S. Department of the Interior, EDF Renewable Energy, and the American Wind Energy Association, for a discussion of the potential benefits of and challenges facing offshore wind.

The panel will feature:

Joshua Kaplowitz
Attorney-Advisor, Office of the Solicitor, Department of the Interior

Doug Copeland
Regional Development Manager, EDF Renewable Energy

Hannah Hunt
Research Analyst, American Wind Energy Association
Fall 2014 Fellow, Clean Energy Leadership Institute
