2022 Pesticide Regulation Workshop

The Household and Commercial Products Association’s (HCPA’s) Pesticide Regulation Workshop, organized, hosted, and co-presented by Crowell, is the oldest and largest annual event dedicated to pesticide regulation, compliance, and enforcement under federal and state pesticide laws. This year’s workshop will feature guest speakers from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Pesticide Programs and Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance and from the Natural Resources Defense Council. This year’s workshop will focus on practical information, including what companies need to know in order to get their pesticide products onto the market, keep them there, and avoid business disruptions and penalties. Knowledgeable and experienced presenters will cover the following topics:

  • An overview of pesticide regulation
  • Understanding regulated products
  • Types of product registrations
  • Key considerations for pesticide product development
  • Data development and formulation considerations
  • Product label development
  • Building an application package
  • The Pesticide Registration Improvement Act (PRIA) 5
  • Importing and exporting pesticides
  • Reporting and recordkeeping
  • Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) enforcement
  • Registration review
  • Lower-risk pesticides
  • Understanding pesticide data compensation
  • Inert ingredients and tolerance petitions
  • State regulation of pesticides


Between them, partners Michael Boucher and Warren Lehrenbaum, senior counsel Peter Gray, and counsel Amy Symonds will present an overview of pesticide regulation and will speak about regulated products, importing and exporting pesticides, reporting and recordkeeping, FIFRA enforcement, registration review, and understanding data compensation. HCPA anticipates robust industry attendance following the resumption of business travel and in-person events.
