Kieran James Tuckley is a trial and litigation associate in Crowell & Moring's Washington, D.C. office. He is a member of the Products Liability & Torts Group, where his practice focuses on environmental and toxic tort litigation.
Kieran's represents product manufacturers and property owners in complex products liability and toxic tort litigation pending in courts across the country. His experience in these matters extends to all phases of tort case development, including substantial document and discovery-related issues, corporate and company witness preparation, corporate history investigations, trial and expert defense, and motions practice.
Kieran has focused a portion of his practice on critical scientific evidentiary issues. He is a frequent participant in Daubert/Frye briefing efforts that have led to the exclusion of plaintiffs' experts speculative causation opinions. He has authored amicus briefs on scientific evidence and causation standards in toxic tort cases in the highest state courts of Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Kieran has also co-authored a number of articles concerning scientific evidence and causation that have been widely utilized by the toxic tort defense bar.
Kieran has represented a number of Fortune 500 companies in all stages of litigation, and representative examples of his practice include:
- National coordinating counsel for a major construction and mining machinery manufacturer and a telecommunications company involved in asbestos litigation.
- Successful trial defense of a brake manufacturer in Los Angeles County Superior Court against the backdrop of a $3 million settlement demand.
- National coordinating counsel for a railroad operator in diesel exhaust litigation.
Kieran received his LL.B., with honors from King's College London in 2005. He received his LL.M. from the George Washington University Law School in 2008 and his J.D. with honors from the George Washington University Law School in 2012.
