Dr. Jun Cheng is a patent agent with extensive experience in physics, electrical engineering, and biomedical engineering. Prior to becoming a patent agent, Cheng was a faculty member at University of Illinois at Chicago, where he taught undergraduate and graduate courses and directed the Laboratory for Live-cell Imaging and Ultrafast Laser Microsurgery. During his tenure at University of Illinois at Chicago, Cheng received the Junior Investigator Award. Prior to that, Cheng was a Research Fellow at University of Michigan, where he developed the live-cell imaging platform, applied it together with ultrafast laser microsurgery, and achieved significant progresses in various biomedical fields.

Cheng holds a Ph.D. in Physics from University of Michigan, where he investigated the semiconductor nanostructures and their applications on quantum computing and quantum communication. Cheng also has a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, as well as a B.S. in Physics from Beijing University. During his career, Cheng has contributed more than 80 articles for journal publications and conference presentations, and has been invited to be a panelist on numerous national review panels.
