Dr. Jun Cheng is an associate in Crowell & Moring's Intellectual Property Group. Jun helps clients build strong intellectual property portfolios that protect commercial products and support future development. With a broad educational background in physics, electrical engineering, and biomedical engineering, Jun focuses his practice on a range of multi-discipline technologies, including telecommunication, machine learning and artificial intelligence, medical devices, consumer products, computer software, nanotechnology, and quantum information processing innovations.
Prior to joining Crowell & Moring, Jun was a faculty member at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he taught undergraduate and graduate courses and directed the Laboratory for Live-cell Imaging and Ultrafast Laser Microsurgery. During his tenure at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Jun received the Junior Investigator Award. Prior to that, Jun was a research fellow at the University of Michigan. Jun holds a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Michigan, where he investigated the semiconductor nanostructures and their applications on quantum computing and quantum communication. Jun also has a M.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan, as well as a B.S. in physics from Beijing University.
