Overview

Adam Singer provides effective and collaborative counsel to resolve high-stakes insurance and reinsurance disputes and minimize client exposure. Working closely with clients and colleagues, Adam develops and implements legal strategies designed to resolve disputes favorably and efficiently. He is included in The Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch (2023 edition) in the areas of insurance law and commercial litigation.

Adam represents and counsels clients in the insurance and reinsurance industries and has experience in high-profile disputes, including disputes related to COVID-19, cyberattacks, business interruption, contingent business interruption, and reinsurance contracts in federal and state courts and arbitration. He has experience in all stages of litigation, including conducting depositions, preparing witnesses for deposition and trial testimony, drafting pleadings, and managing discovery as well as dispositive motions, discovery disputes, and oral arguments. Adam performs litigation management and is hands-on in all aspects of the dispute resolution process, from before litigation is initiated through trial. He also briefs appeals, both for parties and amici curiae.

Adam is an active participant in pro bono initiatives. Among other matters, he has represented individuals in a federal court trial challenging on constitutional grounds methods and protocols used in executions.

Representative Matters

  • Defended an insurer in litigation regarding property, cyber, and business interruption coverage arising out of the NotPetya cyberattack.
  • Obtained 100% relief for an insurer on summary judgment in a dispute concerning coverage for lead exposure.
  • Represents a railroad captive insurer in litigation and arbitrations with reinsurers in connection with a contingent business interruption claim arising from an explosion and fire at an oil refinery.
  • Represents reinsurers in disputes concerning the allocation and cession of asbestos claims.
  • Represents insurance trade associations in a variety of matters, including amicus curiae practice.
