There are business opportunities abound in and with the U.S. – you just have to know where to find them and how to navigate through the rules and regulations. Crowell presents the third installment of a series of IBJ/IJE webinars to help you successfully do business in and with the U.S.
Based on the results of the survey launched during our first session of this series, we will, this time, focus on one of your most preferred webinar topics: data privacy.
In “Data Privacy: A comparison of the U.S. and EU landscape”, our Crowell team will provide in-depth insights and practical guidance on data privacy challenges for Belgian companies (or global companies with offices in Belgium) that are looking to do business in the U.S.
The webinar will kick off with a concise recap of the data privacy landscape in Belgium, with a specific focus on international data transfers and the (very) recently adopted EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Our Crowell team will then shed light on the implications and requirements that Belgian companies must be aware of when conducting business in the U.S., highlighting the key differences between EU and U.S. perspectives on data privacy and recent privacy developments in the U.S. Beyond the regulatory overview, our speakers will also dive into more practical aspects of data privacy compliance. They will offer a practical viewpoint on effectively managing data privacy challenges and share concrete compliance tips for Belgian companies entering, expanding, and/or operating in the U.S.

The landscape of AI governance and regulation is shifting. Following the release of the White House’s “America’s AI Action Plan” in July 2025 and the President’s signing of related Executive Orders, the White House has emphasized (at least rhetorically) a preference for innovation, adoption, and deregulation. But that does not tell the entire story. The Administration remains committed to exercising a heavy hand in AI, including by banning the U.S. government’s procurement of so-called “woke AI,” intervening in the development of data centers and the export of the AI technology stack, imposing an export fee for certain semiconductors to China, and assuming a stake in a U.S. semiconductor company. State legislatures are also racing to implement their own regulations, particularly around AI’s use in critical areas, such as healthcare, labor and employment, and data privacy. The many sources of regulation raise the specter of a fragmented compliance environment for businesses. This webinar will delve into the Administration’s AI strategy, going beyond the headlines to analyze:
