The National Law Journal Names Kris Meade a Crisis Leadership Trailblazer

Firm News | 1 min read | 09.21.21

Washington – September 21, 2021: The National Law Journal has named partner Kris D. Meade a 2021 Crisis Leadership Trailblazer. The list features lawyers who have “launched new initiatives through times of crisis to help their communities, colleagues, or clients.”

The NLJ recognized Meade for his leadership in devising tools and resources to help clients in real time as the COVID-19 pandemic unfolded in early 2020. Meade helped quickly assemble a cross-disciplinary, global team of more than 50 lawyers and professionals to help clients navigate rapidly changing state and local regulations, including stay-at-home orders and determining whether they were considered an essential business that could continue to operate with employees on-site. The team developed a compendium of state and local orders that was made available to clients 24/7.

“The staffing model we developed to deal with the COVID crisis reinforced our firm’s strong belief that client solutions are rarely uni-dimensional and, instead, require that we draw on expertise across a range of practice areas,” Meade told the NLJ. “It also reinforced the partnerships we have with our clients, as we worked through unprecedented challenges and developed an ever-deeper sense of mutual purpose and trust.”

Meade serves as co-chair of Crowell & Moring's Labor & Employment Group, and is also a member of the firm's Management Board and Executive Committee. He counsels and represents employers in the full range of employment and traditional labor law matters, including individual and class action lawsuits filed under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and companion state statutes. Kris co-leads the firm’s pay equity practice, as well as the OFCCP/affirmative action practice.
