Overview

Uri Niv is a litigation counsel in Crowell & Moring’s Los Angeles office, with extensive trial, arbitration, and mediation experience. Uri has represented diverse clients in all stages of litigation, recently securing a complete victory for a major defense contractor facing a multi-billion-dollar trade secret lawsuit. Uri also recently assisted his client in securing a multi-million-dollar settlement prior to litigation even commencing. Uri’s experience is wide and includes disputes in the areas of trade secrets, labor and employment, breach of contractual and fiduciary duties, healthcare, torts, civil rights, and entertainment.

Prior to joining Crowell & Moring, Uri was an associate at one of Los Angeles’ largest trial and litigation boutique law firms. During law school, Uri won UCLA Law’s prestigious Moot Court Competition and was president of the Moot Court Honors Board. Uri also completed a judicial externship in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California and was a summer associate at an international law firm. 

Before attending UCLA, Uri served as a tank commander and company first sergeant in active combat deployment with the Israeli Defense Force (IDF).

Representative Matters

  • Represented a major defense contractor in trade secret dispute. The case resulted in a complete victory for our client at summary judgment with all causes of action dismissed.
  • Represented a major university in a constitutional challenge to its COVID-19 Vaccine policy. Following motion practice and appeals, the case resulted in a complete dismissal of all claims against our client.
  • Represented a large service contractor in challenge to its successful bid for a multi-million-dollar government contract. The case resulted in a complete victory for our client with all claims dismissed.
  • Represented a healthcare insurer in contract dispute. The case resulted in a very favorable settlement for our client.
  • Represented a national restaurant chain in a labor and employment dispute. The case resulted in a favorable settlement for the client on the eve of trial.
  • Represented a party in a contractual dispute in the entertainment industry. The case resulted in an early favorable settlement for the client.
  • Represented a governmental agency which faced millions of dollars in liability following the malfeasance of its previous counsel. Following motion practice, the court reversed its previous ruling and allowed the agency to present its case in court.
  • Achieved a multi-million-dollar settlement on behalf of a client in pre-litigation mediation.
