Sakine Yilmaz is an associate at Crowell & Moring’s Brussels Office and a member of the firm’s Corporate & Commercial Group.
She practices corporate law and commercial law, focusing on: the incorporation, operation, and restructuring of businesses; national and cross-border restructuring and reorganization; mergers and acquisitions; compliance; and contract drafting. She also advises Belgian, European, and international clients more broadly on other aspects of corporate law.
Before joining Crowell & Moring, Sakine worked for five years with clients active in the non-profit sector. This valuable experience allows her to advise non-profit organizations on a broad range of corporate and commercial questions, including incorporation of non-profit legal entities under Belgian law; the setting-up of tailor-made governance structures; the managing and financing of non-profit organizations; general corporate matters and compliance; and the reorganization of groups of associations and foundations.
Sakine obtained her master’s degree in law from the Université Catholique de Louvain-la-Neuve (UCL) in 2015. She also obtained a LL.M in European Law from the College of Europe (Bruges) in 2016.
Sakine became a member of the Brussels bar in 2017. In January 2019, she received the “Prix des Bâtonniers Braun et Jakhian,” a prize that is awarded by the French-speaking bar to the first-year trainee who is ranked first in the Bar exams.
