Omair Azam

Overview

Omair Azam is an associate director at Crowell & Moring International, based in the firm’s Singapore office. He advises multinationals, their trade associations, and other global stakeholders on policy and strategy priorities, with particular focus and experience in the life sciences, innovative biopharmaceutical, and medical technology sectors.

With more than a decade’s experience in global health, Omair approaches policy dialogues and public-private partnerships with a unique perspective that includes deep technical knowledge of vaccines, diagnostics, and maternal and child health. While at CMI, he has established a Women’s Cancer Coalition, bringing together partners from the private and public sectors, and has also supported projects including the APEC Vaccines Task Force and APEC Cancer Control.

Prior to joining CMI, Omair held a number of positions in the not-for-profit sector in West Africa and Southeast Asia. At Vital Strategies, he managed projects in the Philippines, Indonesia, and China to improve the quality of health data available to policy makers and improve decision making and planning. Before that, he worked in Nigeria for several years on behalf of Adam Smith International, managing a UKAid-funded education and job placement program that aimed to place 68,000 marginalized young people into jobs. At the Clinton Health Access Initiative, he supported the U.S. federal government in improving immunization coverage rates as part of the national Expanded Program on Immunization. Omair started his career in Beijing at Synovate Healthcare, where he ran market research studies for pharmaceutical and medical technology clients.
