Nicholas J. (Nick) Diamond is a director and leads the Global Health Group at C&M International. He is also a counsel in Crowell & Moring LLP’s Health Care Group. He advises some of the largest and most innovative biopharmaceutical, medical device, and technology companies worldwide on public policy, regulatory, and ethics issues spanning five continents. Clients seek his guidance on novel issues for both pipeline and existing products. They particularly value his ability to develop and closely align public policy and regulatory strategy with their commercial priorities at both the product-specific and enterprise levels.
Prior to joining Crowell, Nick worked as a consultant for a leading advisory firm in the U.S., where he counseled biopharmaceutical companies, advocacy and trade organizations, and other health sector stakeholders on policy, regulatory, and strategy issues. Earlier in his career, he led global market strategy for the health sector at a privately owned enterprise software company (over $1 billion valuation), as well as served in advisory roles to the U.S. government, including during implementation of landmark health care reform legislation.
Nick also currently serves as an adjunct professor of law at both the Georgetown University Law Center and the University of Houston Law Center, and as an associate scholar in the Center for Global Health at the University of Pennsylvania. He has previously taught at The George Washington University and Drexel University, as well as served as an adjunct fellow in the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Public Health Initiatives. He currently holds related affiliations as a member of the Executive Committee of the Framework Convention on Global Health Alliance (a Geneva-based NGO), an assistant editor of Wolters Kluwer’s Kluwer Arbitration Blog, and a contributor to Oxford University Press’ Investment Claims.
Nick is widely published in law reviews, peer-reviewed journals, and major media outlets on issues spanning health policy, public health, bioethics, public international law, and business and human rights. His writing has also been discussed or featured in major media outlets (e.g., The Washington Post, Slate, Forbes). He has given invited talks in various academic and industry fora, as well as frequently appeared on U.S. news programs (e.g., Bloomberg, MSNBC) as a commentator.
Since 2018, Nick has been a Ph.D. candidate in public international law at Leiden Law School in The Hague, Netherlands. He trained and qualified as a lawyer in the U.S. and holds graduate degrees in global health law and bioethics.
