Michael Hussey applies his extensive technology and business experience to help his clients leverage and navigate the complex world of intellectual property law. His clients range from Fortune 500 companies to startups and individuals.
Michael has prosecuted nearly 1,000 patent applications filed in the United States and throughout the world. He handles all stages of the patent process, from drafting applications to patent issuance. His practice also includes opinion counseling, trademark prosecution, licensing, and copyright matters.
His practice involves technologies related to his background in software and electrical engineering. Additional technologies include jet engines, medical devices, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, data storage, security, computer networking, databases, mobile devices, image processing, telecommunications, voice-over-IP, lighting control systems, web applications, open source software integration, business methods, and other technologies.
Using his more than a decade of business experience, Michael understands his clients' need for business-focused legal solutions. Before beginning his legal career, Michael worked in various management positions and as a developer for software companies on the leading edge of technology in Silicon Valley and the Midwest. He was a senior software development manager at Oracle Corporation, where he was responsible for database development on Windows and Apple operating systems. At Made2Manage, he was a director of product development responsible for the development of ERP software for manufacturers. At Saba Corporation, he was a software architect who designed and wrote web-based enterprise applications in Java using XML and J2EE technologies.
Prior to joining Crowell & Moring, Michael was a shareholder at Brinks Gilson & Lione.
